ASK ME ANYTHING … I dare you!
This sex therapy FAQ answers common questions about sessions, privacy, online therapy, and what to expect when working with Liz Dubé. I am located in the Naples area of Long Beach, California, conveniently accessible from the 405, 605, and 22 freeways. Sessions are available in person at my Long Beach office, virtually through a secure telehealth portal, or through a hybrid approach that combines both in-person and online appointments.

Couples Sessions (75 minutes): $400
Couples Intensive (5 hours in 1 day) $1600 – – Designed for couples who are in crisis, have scheduling difficulty, want a weekend appointment, or want to make progress over a shorter period of time (includes: 1hr. couples intake, 50 minute private individual sessions with each partner. 1hr. 45 mins couples session)
The professional treatment of difficulties related to sexual expression and function. I provide a safe, non-judgemental, sex-positive space to process shame and confusing thoughts and feelings related to sex and intimacy. Sex therapy is conducted through verbal means only (no physical touching). You can learn more on my Sex Therapy page.
The free 15-minute phone consultation gives us an opportunity to briefly discuss what brings you to therapy, answer any questions you may have about sex therapy and my approach, determine whether we are a good fit to work together, and review scheduling options. There is no pressure or obligation to continue after the call—it’s simply a chance for us to connect and explore whether therapy feels right for you.
My approach to sex therapy is often most effective for individuals and couples who are open to honest, direct conversations, willing to explore their patterns and behaviors, and ready to engage in personal or relational growth. Meaningful change typically comes through insight, self-reflection, and active participation in the therapeutic process. If you are looking for a quick fix without deeper exploration or engagement, this approach may not feel like the right fit. Additionally, couples experiencing ongoing high-conflict dynamics—where communication frequently escalates, interactions become disrespectful, or unresolved hurts dominate conversations—may benefit first from working with a therapist who specializes in high-conflict couples therapy. Once a stronger foundation of communication and stability is established, sex therapy can become a more productive and empowering experience.
Yes! I offer both in-person and virtual sessions and you can decide as you go what your preference is based upon your needs and schedule.
Mondays: Virtual option only.
Tuesday – Thursdays: In-person or virtual.
Fridays & Weekends: Intensive full-day option only. Appointments are scheduled directly with me. Availability varies for both daytime and evening sessions. Some clients prefer to have a set time and others choose to schedule as they go. The best way to determine current openings is to schedule a free 15-minute consultation call.
I do not accept insurance. As a specialist, my rates are consistent with the going rates. With self-pay, you can be assured that you are getting the best available treatment without restriction, based on your own needs and desires.
If you have PPO insurance, you might be eligible for partial coverage of mental health services with an “out of network” provider. I would be considered an “out of network” provider and you would need to contact your insurance provider to inquire about your coverage. If you decide to use your PPO benefits, you would need to pay my full fee directly to me at time of service. I would then provide you with a receipt called a “Superbill” which you can submit to your insurance company for them to reimburse you directly at the rate of your coverage. Please contact me if you have any questions.
The first session focuses on understanding your concerns, goals, and relationship history. We may explore the history of the presenting issue and your thoughts about its causes, any questions you have about healthy sex, sexual functioning, or pleasure, current challenges related to intimacy or sexuality, relationship dynamics, personal and sexual history, communication patterns, and family background. This initial conversation helps us gain a deeper understanding of your experience and create a clear roadmap for moving forward together.
I offer both in-person sessions in my private office space in Long Beach, CA and secure online sessions that allow you to attend therapy from home or anywhere within California.
Absolutely not. I’m interactive, engaged, and I give clear feedback. You’ll get tools, strategies, education, and practical next steps — not just a weekly vent session. I ask questions, offer perspectives you may not have considered, and guide you toward actual change. If you want a therapist who actively participates and helps you grow, you’re in the right place.
While I’m a Certified Sex Therapist, I’m also a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist — which means yes, I work with the whole you, not just the sexual parts.
Sexual issues rarely exist in a vacuum. They’re often tangled up with communication struggles, unresolved conflict, trust ruptures, trauma, stress, mental health, attachment patterns, and all the real-life messiness that impacts intimacy.
With 15+ years of clinical experience, I’m fully equipped to help you navigate the non-sexual challenges that shape your relationships and your sex life. If it affects your connection, your emotional safety, or your ability to experience pleasure, we’ll work on it — together.
