About Liz Dube

Background and Passion for Sexual Health

I have always been interested in sex, intimacy, and relationships — who isn’t, right? Early on, I realized that I was more comfortable than most people exploring and talking about sexual concerns and intimacy issues.

Because of this curiosity, I eventually combined two passions: talking openly about sexuality and helping others overcome challenges in their relationships and personal lives. Today, I work with individuals and couples who want to better understand intimacy and sexual wellbeing.

I currently see clients in Long Beach, California and also provide sessions via Zoom. I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (License #80113) and an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist.

In addition, I previously worked as a part-time instructor at CSU Long Beach, where I taught Human Sexuality Counseling.

My academic background includes three degrees from California State University, Long Beach:

  • B.A. in Psychology

  • M.S. in Counseling

  • M.A. in Industrial / Organizational Psychology

Professional Experience and Clinical Training

Before becoming a clinician, I worked as an Independent Romance Consultant, helping women and couples bring more fun and novelty into their sex lives.

My initial clinical training took place at Jewish Family & Children’s Service in Long Beach, California. There, I counseled adults, couples, and children from a variety of backgrounds, ethnicities, and sexual orientations.

Later, I trained at The LGBTQ Center in Long Beach, where I worked with adults, couples, and teens within the LGBTQ community.

Finally, I completed specialized clinical sex therapy training at the Buehler Institute in Newport Beach, California. During this training, I worked exclusively with adult men and women on intimacy concerns, communication between partners, and sexual dysfunction.

Before becoming a psychotherapist, I also worked as a Personal Coach and Certified Professional Development Trainer. I was certified in the “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” and presented workshops focused on professional and personal development.

Helping People Feel Sexually Empowered

Sex can be difficult to talk about. I understand that. Whether the issue involves sexual trauma, sex after pregnancy, low sexual desire, or simply wanting a more fulfilling sex life, these conversations can feel vulnerable.

Over the years, I have heard hundreds of stories from people who believed they were the only ones experiencing these struggles. Many clients tell me:

“I thought I was the only one with this problem.”
“You mean this is normal?”
“There is hope for me?”

Yes, there is hope.

Individuals and couples often seek support for concerns such as loss of sexual desire, difficulties with performance or orgasm, intimacy after having children, or becoming more comfortable with their sexuality.

Through therapy, I work collaboratively with clients to help them create a healthier and more satisfying sexual life — both individually and within their relationships.
